What adds to the price
- Stairs with no lift: £18 per flight. Carrying a wardrobe down four floors takes longer than walking it out of a ground-floor flat.
- Long carries: £24 if the van has to park more than 15 metres away, or £42 for over 40 metres or no street parking.
- Special items: mattresses (£30), sofas (£48) and fridges (£36) cost more to dispose of properly.
- Same-day collection: £30, if we have a slot.
- Central London: jobs inside the Congestion Charge zone add £18. ULEZ is included.
Why prices vary across London
In inner boroughs like Camden, Hackney and Wandsworth, most homes are flats, parking is permit-only and many buildings have no lift. In outer boroughs like Croydon and Barnet, driveways make loading quicker. The load can be the same, but the time on site is not, and that is what the access charges reflect.
Five ways to keep the cost down
- Decide what you are keeping before we arrive, so we only load what needs to go.
- Bring smaller items down to the hallway if you can do it safely.
- Get a visitor parking permit if you live in a permit zone.
- Book a few days ahead instead of same day.
- Send us a photo. It is the quickest way to pick the right load size.
Be careful with very cheap quotes
If a price looks too good to be true, check the collector is a licensed waste carrier. If your junk is fly-tipped and traced back to you, you can be fined. Our guide on checking a waste carrier licence shows you how.
